3 Reasons to Shop Ulta 21 Days of Beauty

This post is sponsored by Ulta

Friends, the final week of Ulta 21 Days of Beauty is upon us. With the final day of beauty deals this Saturday (the 24th), it’s a must that you get your shopping priorities in order. If you’re thinking that maybe you don’t actually need to shop the deals, let me give you three reasons why you’re wrong.

1. Save Money

Sure, I know you can’t really save money by spending money … buuuuut if you’re beauty staples are part of the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty, you’ll save money in the long run if you buy them now.

2. Explore New Brands/Products

If you’ve been hesitant to try a new brand or a different product from your favorite brand, now is the time to do it. With a smaller price tag, there is less risk to try something new on the off chance it doesn’t become a new favorite.

3. Stock Up

Holiday shopping season is unofficially upon us, so it’s the perfect time to start making your Christmas list. What better way to wow the beauty-lover in your life than with some goodies from the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty.

Must-Buy Drugstore Beauty Products

Affiliate links are used in this post. All opinions are my own

I’ll be the first to admit that I often fall into the trap of thinking that a product costs more, it must be better than its cheaper counterparts. I often end up buying my beauty products from Sephora, Ulta, Bluemercury or Dermstore, but over the years I have stuck true to a few of my favorite must-buy drugstore beauty products. I am never without these 10 products in my beauty closet.

Must-buy Drugstore Beauty Products Must-buy Drugstore Beauty Products Must-buy Drugstore Beauty Products

  1. Pixi by Petra Nourishing Cleansing Balm – This is my go-to cleansing balm that I use twice a day before my face wash. It does an amazing job of removing all sorts of dirt and makeup, allowing me to properly clean my face afterwards.
  2. Pixi by Petra Mattelustre Lipstick – These are great affordable lipsticks with a decent color range and great color payoff. They don’t last all day or through an intense meal, but they do a great job for day-to-day wear.
  3. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser – This is the only under-eye concealer I use. It covers dark circles, brightens and doesn’t crease. I choose it over designer brands all the time.
  4. Milani Baked Blush – This blush range is gorgeous and has such amazing shades. I used to use Luminoso, but recently have been reaching for Rose d’Oro.
  5. L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24hour Eye Shadow – These single-shade shadows are long lasting with great color payoff. Just a heads up – if you’re not a shimmer gal, these aren’t for you.
  6. Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge I’m a big sponge girl; I almost never apply my foundation with a brush. I’ve had the beauty blender before, but this Real Techniques is even better for a fraction of the cost
  7. Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat  – The name says it all. This top coat is seriously fast drying and does a great job of protecting your manicure.
  8. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Lotion – This butter/lotion situation is AH-MA-ZING for dry, flakey skin. I like to cover myself in this at night and then wake up as smooth as a baby’s bottom.
  9. SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hand & Body Scrub – This is the only body scrub I use and can’t get enough. I always have backups on hand in case I run out before I can purchase another tub. It is seriously exfoliating and moisturizing … plus it smells delicious.
  10. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion – Like SheaMoisture, this is the only body lotion (outside of coca butter) I keep at home. It is the perfect every day lotion and I have a bottle in every room so I am never away from this precious life blood.

My Most Repurchased Skin Care Products

This post contains affiliate links

Being a beauty junkie and a blogger, I test a lot of products that I think do a good job, but I don’t love them enough to repurchase when my sample runs out. Then there are the other products that I fall in love with and buy again and again after my samples are long gone. Which brings us here, the skin care products worth repurchasing.

Clinique Liquid Facial Soap

This face wash is an oldie but goodie. I’ve been using it for years and it’s always done the job. It’s not glamorous or sexy, but I can rely on it to cleanse my skin without stripping it of its natural oils.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+

Just like the face wash, this is my go-to face lotion even though it’s not too trendy. Sometimes I’ll rotate in more intense moisturizers if my skin is extra dry at times, but otherwise I reach from my Clinique lotion.

Fresh Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil

If my skin ever needs a little extra moisture — either before bed or during dry days — I can always count on my Fresh face oil. In addition to helping moisturize my skin, it helps to firm and plump out any fine lines. Plus, I love the way it smells!

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil

This is definitely a splurge purchase, but it’s 150% worth it. Plus, the bottle lasts a seriously long time. This oil works almost immediately — after just a few minutes, my skin is plumper and brighter. I like to use this on nights when I want to pamper myself or on red-eye flights so that I walk off the plan looking like I didn’t just get a horrible night’s sleep.

Sunday Riley
Good Genes

I use Good Genes in conjunction with Luna Night Oil. It’s another splurge item that’s 150% worth it. It makes my skin brighter and more firm. It’s like an IRL Snapchat filter and I just can’t get enough. Granted I might spend my entire income on Sunday Riley products, but it’s worth it.

Skin Authority Resurfacing Accelerator

I’m big on exfoliating — both manual and chemical. The Resurfacing Accelerator is the latter, an Alpha Hydroxy Acid exfoliator that you can layer underneath your lotion at night. It makes turning over your skin cells super easy.

Skin Authority VitaD Fortified Topical Elixir

Vitamin D doesn’t have to come from the sun. In fact, it can come in bottle form and make your skin brighter and more firm. Plus, this elixir always helps to clear up any acne that might pop up from time-to-time throughout the year.

5 Tips for a Better At-home Manicure

I love getting me nails done professionally. I always feel so fancy having someone else work on my nails. Like I’m the queen of the world. But, manicures don’t often come cheap, so I find them an easy beauty routine to save money on. I’m always giving myself an at-home manicure.

at-home manicure

I’d much rather have a pro handle my brows and haircuts and paint my nails at home. Plus, I find giving myself a manicure relaxing. There is almost nothing better than going on a Netflix binge and changing up the color of your mani. Who doesn’t love that! But I know not everyone feels like they’ve mastered the at-home manicure just yet. I hope these five tried-and-true tips will turn you into a pro in no time.

1. Less is more

Nails dry faster if you apply multiple thin coats as applied to fewer thick coats. I typically aim for three thin coats and wait a minute or two between each coat. If a shade is really opaque, I’ll only apply two coats.

2. Protect your polish

Use a heavy-duty top coat (make sure to run it across the tips too!) to prevent your polish from chipping. I like Seche Vite and Revlon Extra Life top coat.

3. Take an ice-cold bath

Speed up your dry time between coats by running your nails under ice-cold water. I don’t know the scientific explanation here, but I can tell you it helps polish dry quicker.

4. Take a hot shower

Paint your nails before your next shower. Once your nails are dry, hop in the shower and the warm water will remove any polish on your skin.

5. Reapply top coat

Re-apply top coat every couple of days. This always prolongs chipping and maintains my manicure for longer.

I hope you are able to use at least one of these tips during your next at-home manicure. Because let’s be honest, there is nothing a little nail polish (and maybe a cocktail) can’t fix. Am I right?!
