I’ve been trying out some new changes to my makeup and beauty routine lately, so I thought I’d give you a bit of an update. Rather than do a full review on all of the products I’ve been using, I’ll give you a quick overview of some changes and my initial thoughts. AKA, I’m too lazy at this moment in my life to write a full review and take all of the photos. Sorry, but that’s just reality. As I type this, I’m forcing myself to not go to bed at 7:20PM. So, here is my beauty update.

beauty update

Foreo Luna Play

I was in NYC in March and had a stroll around Sephora after dinner with a coworker. Naturally, I couldn’t leave empty handed, so I grabbed a sheet mask. I thought that would be my only splurge, but then I saw the Foreo Luna Play at checkout and snagged it up.

I like it’s miniature size (great for travel) and that it’s waterproof for use in the shower. It goes a great job of working in my cleanser, but I know it only lasts for around 50 uses, so I’m not looking forward to constantly replacing it. Since I use a Clarisonic at home in my shower, I’ve restricted this to my travel toiletry bag to get the most use out of it as possible.

DermaQuestDermaQuest just launched in Boston, and they graciously hosted me for a 30-minute facial at GreenTangerine last week. My skin was dry and scaly from my time in the Barbados sun, so I was in desperate need of this exfoliating session. I was lucky enough to leave with a few products, so I can’t wait to try them out and report back once I’ve given them about a month’s worth of use.

IT Cosmetics CC Cream

I’ve heard great thinks about this CC cream for a while, but finally pulled the purchase trigger about a month ago. The foundation I was using wasn’t working well with my dry winter skin and I was in need of a change. So far, I’ve been loving the coverage and wearability of the product. Since I got soooooooo tan in Barbados (re: I’m a normal skin tone now), I had to purchase a travel sized tube in Light. We’ll see how long the tan lasts before I go back to my normal shade of Fair.

The Ordinary

I heard about The Ordinary in a Fleur de Force vlog and was intrigued. Fleur talked about how high-quality the products were while still being affordable. I loved the Sunday Riley Luna, Good Genes and Tidal products, but couldn’t bring myself to repurchase them all at once. My wallet needed a break. So instead, I snagged up the Lactic Acid, Advanced Retinoid and Hyaluronic Acid. I didn’t see ground-breaking results overnight, but my skin has adjusted to them nicely and it seems to be getting better over time. I’ll keep reporting back.

Navy Eyeliner

I got a makeover from a very strange MAU at Barney’s while in NYC this past weekend, and walked away with a new-found love of navy eyeliner. While I didn’t purchase the eyeliner he used (I don’t even remember what brand he used), I later went to Sephora and picked up my favorite liner in Navy. It’s just a nice way to mix up my normal brown eyeliner. I’m soooo edgy.

Shaving my Face

I recently started shaving my face because the internet and Kelly told me to. I’ve been using this gadget and really love how much better my skincare and foundation sink in. I’ll let you know if anything changes or if I have a major accident. But for now, I’m going totally smooth, baby!
